Team Canada has defeated Team USA in women’s soccer 1-0, with a goal scored by 23-year-old Jessie Fleming on a penalty kick 74 minutes into play. They will play for the gold medal against Sweden.

Meanwhile, American gymnast Simone Biles will compete in the balance beam event after having withdrawn from a number of other individual events.

Canadian gymnast Ellie Black will compete in Tuesday’s balance beam final, the Canadian Olympic Committee confirmed Monday. Black pulled out of last Thursday’s women’s all-around final after she sprained her left ankle during training.

Sprinter Andre De Grasse was presented with his bronze medal Monday for the men’s 100-metres event on Sunday where he became the first Canadian male athlete to reach the podium at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

  1. Canada has a male in his team…maybe that contribuited to have a player with more muscles per weith and stronger bones and testosterone than the rest of the females in the field. MAYBE that made difference

  2. As an American, I am ashamed to see this soccer team kneeling for the National Anthem. I call this, Devine Justice. These losers do not deserve to win anything. Sport is for sports and not political statements.

  3. Great job Canada It's about the game respect for the country your there to represent I think that was Forgotten or There just selfish and used the platform to make More money Someone should ask Meagan I think I want a sandwich 🥪know 😀

  4. So glad the arrogant women's USA soccer team are out and hope they don't even medal. The look on Rapinoe's defeated face said it all. What made it even sweeter is that the penalty award to Canada was so soft and on balance wasn't a penalty. But who cares that this point.
I remember in the 2019 Women's World Cup when the US beat Thailand 13-0 showed absolutely no humility in beating a far inferior team. Since that point I've hope they loose every match they play. Well done Canada all the best in the final.
